Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar University, also Agra University is one of the oldest institutions in Uttar Pradesh, in the historic city of Agra. Well known professors of the university include Shankar Dayal Sharma, Motilal Nehru, Gulzari Lal Nanda, Chaudhary Charan Singh, Krishna Dutt Paliwal, Hridyanath Kunzru, Dr. Deoki Nandan and Ahmed Ali, who co-founded the All-India Progressive Writers' Movement & Association and is the author of Twilight in Delhi. He was lecturer of English in 1933-34. It runs many courses successfully. There are various departments that run courses in all emerging fields and also certificate courses on foreign languages.
