Pannalal Girdharilal Dayanand Anglo-Vedic (PGDAV) College is one of the oldest constituent college of the top ranking Delhi University. It was founded in the year 1957 by D.A.V. College Managing Society, situated at one of the most prime and easily accessible location in Nehru Nagar (Opposite Srinivaspuri) on Ring Road with a sprawling campus. It can be easily reached not only from all corners of Delhi but also from the neighbouring towns of Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Noida. Very soon it will be only a short distance away from some of the Delhi Metro Stations in South Delhi.
PGDAV College is a co-educational institution. It is well-known for excellence not only in academics but also in sports and other co-curricular activities. It has eleven teaching departments, offering undergraduate courses of the University of Delhi in the broad disciplines of Arts, Commerce, Computer Science and Mathematical Sciences. It also offers instructions in post graduate courses in four subjects, viz. Commerce, Hindi, Maths and Political Science. Down the years the College has emerged as a centre of excellence under the stewardship of its highly qualified and experienced faculty. Many faculty members are associated with post graduate teaching, where they are guiding students at post graduate, M. Phil. and doctoral levels. Some of our faculty members have achieved high points in their life by even shifting to careers in administration (IAS etc.) and politics.

There are a number of socities and academic associations in various subjects which organize vaious activities both at inter class and inter college levels. This provides ample opportunities to our students to express themselves creatively, learn useful skills, broaden their horizons, and indulge in a healthy spirit of competition. Through these socities, associations, and even independently, our students have participated in academic and cocurricular activities at various platforms and have brought honours for themselves and for the college. Altogether the students are provided ample opportunities to hone their intellectual and cultural faculties.
The college strives to provide an environment that nurtures qualities of humanism and inculates values of team work. Various events are held in the college throughout the year, including the college fest where students are encouraged to actively participate and even take the lead in organizing them. Excursions and field trips mainly with an academic and learning focus, supplement these events and provide non-formal avenues to the students to experience 360 degree learning.
The college magazine Ankur seeks to provide a platform to our students for developing their writing and literary skills. The college has a conference room, of a standard unmatched by most other colleges in the university, which acts as a stage for hosting artistic, academic and cultural events.
The college is well-known for nurturing enormous sports talent. These sportspersons have been consistently bringing laurels not only to their own Institution but for our country itself.
The college has moulded various sportspersons in the field of athletics, cricket and many other fields who have done the college and the nation proud.
To encourage our students to participate and excel in academic, co-curricular and extra curricular activities the college has instituted various prizes which are awarded every year in recognition of merit in these fields.
Naturally with these kind of traditions of cultivating and maintaining excellence in all the fields the college can justifiably take pride in having an illustrious list of alumni. Some of them are Manoj Prabhakar, Raman Lamba, Atul Wasan (Sportspersons), Kamal Sabri (musician), Amarjeet Chopra (current President, ICAI) and many more.

They will receive their Provisional Admission slips from there and will be admitted to the College on the production of those admission slips.
