Teri University has its root in the comprehensive research in the re-aims of energy, environment, and sustainable development. Teri university was established and constituted on 19 August,1998 located in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) , it was deemed to be university in 5 October,1999.

Teri University campus is enclosed by an area enclosed of 2 acres and situated at Vasant Kunj,New Delhi.It was established as the objective to provide for institution and training in energy studies, biosciences, environmental studies, public policy and it was inaugurated by the president of India , Pratibha Deviusingh Patil on 11 September 2008.
