Indian School of Mines is a fully residential engineering & technology institute located in the city of Dhanbad, Jharkhand. It was established in year 1926 with an aim to cater the wide range of engineering and scientific disciplines. ISM Dhanbad has 15 departments and centres offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. The institute has consistently ranked among the top academic institutions in India. The mission for converting ISM to IIT has been started.
Indian School of Mines is ranked No. 20 by India Today in the list of Top 25 Engineering colleges of India. It has been ranked as one of the top 12 Engineering colleges in India by Outlook India 2010 survey. The Central Library houses more than 80,000 books, journals and periodicals. The institute has state of the art infrastructure and modern facilities with campus covering an area of 220 acres. Admission to ISM is based on IIT-JEE entrance exam.
