SSC Combined Graduate Level Exam for Subordinate Services

Staff Selection Commission conducts the Graduate Level Examination for recruitment to various subordinate services like the Assistants’ Grade, Inspectors of Income Tax and Central Excise, Preventive Officers for Customs, Sub Inspectors in CBI and in Central Police Organizations (ITBP, CRPF, BSF and CISF) as well as Divisional Accountants, Auditors etc. The exam is conducted in a pattern similar to that of Civil Services Examination and exam is held in two phases. The first phase of the exam is called the Preliminary Examination. Those who qualify in the Preliminary Exam are eligible to appear in the Mains. Subordinate Services Commission was re designated as Staff Selection Commission (SSC) on September 26, 1977. The major objective of the commission is to make recruitment to various class III or class ‘C’ (non technical) posts in the various departments of the Government of India. The commission is headed by a Chairman, a secretary cum controller of examinations and two members, who usually perform the work of assisting Chairman. The headquarters of the commission is located in the state of Delhi.

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Assistants' Grade Examination, once a year in two stages. The Preliminary Examination (Objective Type) for selection of candidates for the Main Examination is held in the month of January.

The Scholastic Aptitude Test, SAT, is a test conducted by the College Board in United States for the admission purpose of the foreign students. Most of the US universities and colleges are taking the foreign students based on the SAT score and getting a good score will increase the chance of getting admission. SAT is prepared and scored by the Educational Testing Service. It is an approximately 4 hour-long test. There are two types of SAT tests namely, SAT Reasoning Test and SAT Subject Tests.
