GATE Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Pharmacy (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programs may apply
- Master’s degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programs.
- Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master’s degree program (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology or in the third or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master’s degree program and Dual Degree program in Engineering/ Technology are eligible to apply.
- Candidates with qualifications obtained through examination conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed Section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.
GATE Syllabus
Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Biotechnology Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology, Chemistry, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Geology and Geophysics, Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Physics, Production and Industrial Engineering, Textile Engineering and Fiber Science

GATE Examination
There are two different modes by which candidates can apply for GATE Exam :
0nline Application and Offline Application
The candidate will have two payment options
a) Gateway Payment: Payment can be made using credit or debit cards or net banking through the payment gateway of ICICI Bank / Bill Desk / HDFC.
b) Challan Payment: Payment by cash at State Bank of India or Indian Bank branches
Apply Online for GATE
Candidates must follow the instructions provided while applying online. At the end of this process, a PDF file will be generated with the following pages and the instructions should be followed.
Cash Payment: (only for Challan Payment option)
The bank Challan will be printed in triplicate. Take it to any one of the branches of State Bank of India or Indian Bank and pay the fees. Bank will retain a copy with them and will return two copies to you. In those two copies, retain the Candidate’s copy with you and attach the Institute’s Copy with the application form
Post/Submission
Duly filled-in Application Form with appropriate enclosures must be sent by Speed Post (preferably) or by Registered Post to The Chairman, GATE of the Zone, where the candidate prefers (corresponding to the 1st Choice of Examination City) to appear for the examination, so as to reach on or before given time.
OR
It can be handed over personally to respective Zonal GATE Office.
Offline Application Process
Candidates can get the application form from
a) Designated Bank Branches corresponding to each zone on cash payment
b) Over the counter from Zonal GATE Office after handing over Demand Draft for appropriate amount
