The Indian Navy Artificer Apprentices exam is conducted for recruiting aspirants to the Indian Navy. This examination is held twice in a year generally in the month of July and December. The Indian Navy is a high technology service, which operates and maintains highly sophisticated ships, submarines and aircraft.
The propulsion machinery, weapons, sensors and equipment are on board. These weapon platforms are operated and maintained by sailors, who are given training at various intervals during their service.
In Indian Navy, there are four types of recruitment process for the entry of sailors - Artificer Apprentice exam, Artificer [DE (DH)] exam, MER (Matric Entry Recruit) and NMER (Non-Matric Entry Recruit).
Eligibility Criteria
The aspirant must have an Indian Nationality. Only unmarried male applicants can apply. They belong to the age group of 15 to 18 years and they must have finished Matriculation or equivalent exam. The applicants must have learned physics, chemistry and mathematics subjects. They should have minimum of 60% marks in these subjects. Those who have cleared the written exam can attend the Physical Fitness Test. This test is compulsory for enrolment. The candidates are selected based on the written test and Physical Fitness examination.
Mode of Exam
The Indian Navy Artificer Apprentices Exam Entrance test consists of multiple-choice objective kind of questions. Every question has four options. The aspirant has to select the correct answer from the given alternatives. The duration of the examination is 75 minutes. The questions will be asked at the matriculation level. The questions cover from the following subject topics:
Mathematics
Algebraic identities, Basic trigonometry and geometry, Polynomials, Quadratic equations and exponents, Set theory, Surds
English
Antonyms, Synonyms, Articles, Comprehension, Prepositions, Punctuation Tenses and parts of speech, Transformation of simple sentences
Science
Chemical bonding, Gravitation, Health and nutrition, Heat, Light, Metals and non-metals Physiology, State of matter, Universe, Work and energy
General knowledge
Current affairs, Entertainment, Geography, Indian History, Inventions and discoveries, Sports
The written Test qualified candidates has to appear for a PFT too.
Physical Fitness Test (PFT):
Qualifying in the Physical Fitness is mandatory for enrolment. The standard of PFT is as follows:
- One-mile (16 km) run to be completed in 7 minutes.
- 20 squats
- 10 push-ups
Application Procedure
- The eligible candidates may complete the application form as per format given in the Employment News on a plain paper either handwritten or typed.
- The application duly completed should be sent to the concerned Zonal Recruitment Offices by the prescribed date.
