Indian Navy was established as a part of Ministry of Defense under the Government of India. There are 64 thousand personnel working in the Indian Navy. Indian navy is the naval branch of the Indian Armed Forces with its headquarter at Western Naval Command, Far Eastern Naval Command, Eastern Naval Command and Southern Naval Command. The Indian Navy is operating more than 155 vessels at present. The major objective of the navy is to provide security to national maritime borders of the country. Indian Navy Sailors Matric Entry Recruitment Exam held two times every year. The Indian Navy possesses highly sophisticated ships, submarines and aircraft, which are operated by sailors, who are given training at various intervals during their service. Indian Navy Sailors (Direct Entry) MER Examination is held twice in a year.

Eligibility Criteria

Unmarried male applicants are qualified for this examination.
The aspirant must have an Indian Nationality and they belong to the age group of 17 to 20 years.
The applicant must have cleared matriculation or equivalent test from the reputed Institute or School.
They should have studied chemistry, mathematics and physics and they should have at least of 55% marks in these subjects.

Mode of Exam

The written examination includes objective type questions. The duration of this examination is 60 minutes. The examination paper is available in English and Hindi language. The questions are from science, English, Mathematics and General Knowledge. The questions are asked from the Matriculation standard level. The candidates who have cleared the written test are required to attend Physical Fitness Test. The aspirants should complete one mile in 7 minutes, 10 push-ups and 20 squats. The applicants are selected based on their performance in the written examination, medical test and physical fitness test.

The question paper will be bilingual and objective type and of 1 hour duration. The results will be announced on the same day.

Those who qualify will undergo Physical Fitness Test and Medical Examination. Those who are declared medically fit would be considered fully qualified and those who are declared temporary unfit will be required to appear for Review Medical on the stipulated date.

Performance in Written Examination, Computer Knowledge, Sports and NCC will be taken into consideration for the final selection.

Candidates should bring the completely filled in application forms in A4 size paper the way it is prescribed in the advertisement along with the attested documents and a two self addresses envelopes of size 22*10 cms with Rs. 10 stamp affixed in a white envelope at the address:
