Dr B R Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) was formerly known as Andhra Pradesh Open University. It is located in located in the city of Hyderabad. The Open University has been instrumental in opening numerous opportunities for working people and those who want to improve their academic qualifications and professional skills. Established by an act of the Andhra Pradesh state legislature, it has developed a wide network of more than 200 study centers spread throughout the state of Andhra Pradesh.
BRAOU has developed a multi-media teaching-learning approach which comprises of self-learning print material, supported by audio, video lessons and regular broadcast of lessons through All India Radio. The education system of the University is flexible in terms of admission, choice of programs, duration, age requirements, teaching methods and evaluation procedures.
