University of Jammu is a UGC recognized university, established in year 1969. It is situated on the banks of Tawi River in the town of Jammu at an altitude of 1,030ft above sea level. Jammu University offers undergraduate courses, post graduate courses and doctoral programs. It is affiliated to over 100 governmental and non-governmental colleges in Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu University is the first university in India to receive the ISO-9001 certification.
The university has a well equipped central library that caters over 350,000 books of different courses for the students. The University of Jammu is accredited as 'A' Grade University by National Assessment & Accreditation Council of India. It is primarily a research, teaching, affiliating and examining body involved in promotion of arts, science and other branches of learning. It is a technologically enabled campus with state of the art tools and means of studying.
