Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur is an autonomous engineering institute established in year 1951 by Government of India. IIT Kharagpur has the largest campus amongst all IIT Institutes, covering an area of 2100 acres. It is recognised as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India and it also stands tall amongst top engineering institutions of India. IIT Kharagpur has been ranked No. 4 by India Today in the list of Top 25 Engineering colleges of India.
IIT KGP has 31 departments and schools offering undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and dual degree programmes. Admission to different courses at IIT Kharagpur is based on JEE, GATE, JAM and JMET. IIT Kharagpur has state-of-the-art infrastructure and modern facilities. The Central Library of IIT Kharagpur is the first in India to register for the Internet service through the ERNET project. It houses over 3,00,000 volumes including books, CD’s, tapes and periodicals.
