Saheed Nurul Islam Mahavidyalaya was established on the day of August 2001 with a view to promote higher education in the local area. The college had a very humble beginning with a handful of students starting their classes in a few rooms. However today's picture is one of complete transformation. Now the college offers a wide choice of undergraduate courses in Arts stream. The college is well equipped with all modern facilities. A variety of teaching and learning techniques are employed to impart knowledge and skills to the students of the college. It has been a long cherished dream of the people of Swarup Nagar-Baduria to have a degree college in their locality. The dream was gradually turning into a demand. At first On 1960 with the support of the Central Minister Mr. Humayun Kabir, some education lovers held a meeting at Tentulia High School. But their was no result at last. At last on December, 2000 with the co-operation of some hearty local people and some respected political and non-political persons that was decided to established the college. For that they made a committee with 107 members and also made a advisor committee with 4 members and it was decided that the name of the college was “SAHEED NURUL ISLAM MAHAVIDYALAYA” .
