Dr. Antonio da Silva of Dadar, in 1875, through the good offices of Rev. Father John Braz Fernandes left by his will the bulk of his estate for the founding of a high school for the education of the indigenous catholic boys of the place. Non-Catholic boys, however, are also admitted. This school came to be known as Dr. Antonio da Silva High School.
