Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is the largest national institute in Maharashtra and second oldest campus of IIT. It is one of the premier science & technology institutes of Asia. IIT Bombay has been ranked No. 5 by India Today in the list of Top 25 Engineering colleges of India. IIT Bombay was established in year 1958 with assistance from UNESCO and funds contributed by the Soviet Union. The institute campus is spread over a vast expanse of 550acres at Powai, a suburb in north western Mumbai.
Over the years, IIT Bombay has progressed dynamically in all academic and research activities, along with improvement in its infrastructure and facilities. IIT Bombay has 15 Departments covering various fields of engineering. Admission to IIT Bombay is based on entrance exams like JEE, GATE, CEED, JMET and JAM. The motto of IIT Bombay is to provide the best possible educational facilities for training bright students for the careers in technology and science.
