Faced with this reality and a vision, Rotary Club of Navsari founded the Rotary Eye Institute (REI) in 1977, a non-profit eye hospital– to provide world-class eye care to people suffering from eye related problems that can be easily cured. The hospital was launched to cater to the other India – the poor and low income families settled in the southern part of Gujarat and bordering tribal areas of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Rotary Eye Institue’s Gopal Jyot Post Graduate Center for Opthalmology is accredited to National Board of Examination, New Delhi, for Post Graduate courses in Opthalmology. In fact, it’s the only NGO-run center in the state of Gujarat that’s acknowledged by National Board of Examination.
