On November 7th 1996, the Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University was renamed Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University to pay tribute to the Parliamentarian Acharya N.G. Ranga, an outstanding educationist, peasant leader and freedom fighter. A huge bronze statue of Acharya N.G. Ranga was framed at the main campus of the University.

The university offers courses leading to graduate, post-graduate and PhD degrees. Admissions in under-graduate courses are done on basis of the performance of the candidates in the state-wide Engineering, Agriculture and medicine Common Entrance Test, EAMCET, conducted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. For Masters Degree courses admissions are based on the past academic record and performance in entrance test while for admission into PhD, the past academic record and performance in interview is the criterion for selection.

Acharya Nagarjuna University (Nagarjuna University) is one of the Universities located in the region of Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India. Dr B R Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) was formerly known as Andhra Pradesh Open University. It is located in located in the city of Hyderabad. Established by an act of the Andhra Pradesh state legislature, it has developed a wide network of more than 200 study centers spread throughout the state of Andhra Pradesh.

The Dravidian University, Kuppam, Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh, India was founded on October 20, 1997 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, with the initial support extended by the governments of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala for an integrated development of Dravidian languages.

English and Foreign Languages University (EFL University) is a UGC recognized university established in 1972. It is situated in the city of nawabs, Hyderabad. The main campus of EFL University is in Hyderabad; however it also operates campus at Lucknow and Shillong. The EFLU provides the study of English and foreign languages. The university is known for training the teachers, production of teaching materials, and extension services to improvise the teaching standard of English and various Foreign Languages in India. The EFLU currently offers academic programmes in English, Arabic, French, German, Japanese, Russian and Spanish.

JNTU College of Engineering, Anatapur stands aloft on a solid foundation of past glory and prestige. This college was started in the year 1946, under the post war reconstruction program and functioned at guindy campus, Madras for two years and was shifted to Anantapur in 1948. It was in the year 1958 that the college was shifted to the present permanent buildings accommodating the Administrative block, Laboratories, the Engineering Departments, Library and the Hostel blocks.

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, situated in Hyderabad, is the first technical university in India. Popularly known as JNTU, the university was named after the name of former Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. Koneru Lakshmaiah College of Engineering now K L University is a private University located in the Guntur District of Andhra Pradesh, India. K L University consists of 11 academic departments, and six schools of excellence, with a strong emphasis on scientific and technological research.

Established in 1980, the college is located in a 50 Acre site abutting Buckingham Canal, about 8 km from Vijayawada in Guntur District. Kakatiya University is a public university located in Warangal, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is one of the largest recipients of central government educational funds, evidenced by the recent external campus facelift and vast expansion and acquisition of the latest IT equipment and related peripherals. Kakatiya University is located in the historical town, Warangal, erstwhile seat of the Kakatiya rulers and an important town in north Telangana region.The rapid growth of this university is mainly due to strong foundation and vision of Prof. K. Venkata Ramiah, first Vice Chancellor of this university.

Krishna University was established in Machilipatnam Krishna district Andhra Pradesh in 2008. It was established by the state of Andhra Pradesh to promote education in various streams of education in the district. The university has the entire district under its jurisdiction. Maulana Azad National Urdu University is a central university named after the first education minister of India. It is a UGC recognized public university situated in the capital city of Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad. It was established in 1998 with a vision to promote Urdu language and vocational education. The University has recently been awarded "A" Grade by National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC). Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) also has a Directorate of Distance Education where around 15,000 students take admission in various under graduate and post graduate courses. MANUU has 9 regional centers, 5 sub-regional centers and 140 study centers in various states in India.

Osmania University (also known as OU for short) is a public university situated in the city of Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh, India. It is named after the Last Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan. The name derives from the name of the founder, Mir Osman Ali Khan, the Nizam of Hyderabad. It is one of the oldest modern universities in India. It was the first Indian University to have Urdu (اردو) language as medium of instruction. Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, located in Hyderabad, was founded by the state government with the merger of Sahitya, Sangeetha, Nataka, Nritya and Lalitha Kala Academies, International Telugu Institute and Telugu Bhasha Samithi into one. Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (Sri Padmavati University) is a women's university in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India. It was established as a state University by the Andhra Pradesh legislature in 1983, named after the goddess Sri Padmavati, the consort of Lord Venkateswara. The university has approximately 3,000 students.

The campus of Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam covers 138 acres (56 hectares) located in a semi-urban area at the foot of the sacred Tirumala Hills. Funds for the development are received from UGC and State Government.

elangana University is located at Nizamabad in Andhra Pradesh. It was was established under an Act of 2006 of Andhra Pradesh legislature. There are more than 150 colleges in the state that are affiliated with the university. Telangana University has educational jurisdiction spread across three districts of Andhra Pradesh namely Adilabad, Medak and Nizamabad.

University of Hyderabad is a central university situated in Hyderabad, the capital city of Andhra Pradesh.
