DR. C.V. Raman University, Bilaspur has been set up by All India Society for Electronics & Computer Technology (AISECT). Dr.C.V. Raman University has been notified on 3 Nov 2006 by Govt. of Chhattisgarh. In addition to undertaking regular degrees and PG programmes in science, Art , Commerce and Management faculties, the University focuses on newer technological subjects like Information Technology,Bio Technology, Environmental Science and on such other modern Science and Technology areas as are in tune with changing times. The University shall promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurial skills among its students for better usage of ICT in education and development.

Guru Ghasidas University was established on 16th June 1983. Located in Bilaspur in Chattisgarh, Guru Ghasidas University is a UGC recognized university. GGU is the acronym used for the University. The university is named after Guru Ghasidas, the founder of the Satnami movement in the region. It is one of the two public universities in Chattisgarh. GGU covers entire spectrum of the higher education facilities.

The university has got B+ grade from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The university campus is spread over an area of 655 acres. The campus is located 5kms from the main town of Bilaspur.
