Daramsinh Desai Foundation was established in 1968 from an affiliated college named as Dharamsinh Desai Institute of technology offering degree and diploma in Chemical Engineering . It was established by an eminent Parliamentarian and a social worker , Late Shri Dharamsinh Desai . Gujarat Agricultural University, (GAU) was founded in 1972 as one of the prestigious State Agricultural Universities in India. It was located at approximately 30 km from the town of Palanpur in the Banaskantha District of Gujarat. Since 2004, the GAU has been split into four separate university campuses.

The Gujarat Agricultural University started functioning with effect from June 1972, with specific mandates for promoting productivity of agriculture through the pursuance of research in agriculture and allied sciences. The particular feature of the GAU was that it was a multi-campus University, with additional campuses located at Junagadh, Navsari and Anand. North Gujarat University was established by the Ordinance No. 5 of 1986 dated 17.5.1986 which was later passed as the North Gujarat University Act No.22 of 1986 on 11/9/86 by the Legislative Assembly of Gujarat. The University has been functioning since then and growing and expanding steadily.

The University began to operate and serve 41 colleges scattered over the three erstwhile districts of Banaskantha, Mehsana and Sabarkantha allotted in its jurisdiction. Maharaja Sayajirao University was established in 1949 with the motto ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’ it is one of the premier university of India located in the city of Vadodara , in Gujarat .
