Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya was established in year 1902 by Swami Shradhanandji. This educational institution was established with an aim to regain the ancient Indian Gurukul style of education. Wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses varying from ancient to modern education are offered by Gurukula Kangri University to cater to the educational needs of region. The university was given the status of deemed university in 1962 by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It has been awarded Four Star status by NAAC in 2002.
The university offers 22 undergraduate courses and 19 postgraduate courses. The university has good placement record with numerous business industries visiting the campus. For the upliftment of women a sister institution, Kanya Gurukula Mahavidyalaya was launched by Acharya Ramdevji in Dehradun in year 1922.
