National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra was established in year 1963 by the Government of India. NIT Kurukshetra was accredited as an Institution of National Importance in year 2008. NIT Kurukshetra was formerly known as Regional Engineering College. It is a premier technical institute of the region, with its campus extending over an area of 300 acres of picturesque land. Admission to the courses at National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra depends on the performance at AIEEE and GATE. In year 2002, NIT Kurukshetra was given the status of Deemed University under the UGC act. It is considered as one of the best engineering institutes in the country.
