National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra was established in year 1963 by the Government of India. NIT Kurukshetra was accredited as an Institution of National Importance in year 2008. National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra is ranked No. 21 by India Today in the list of Top 25 Engineering colleges of India. 11 educational departments at National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra offers various B. Tech, M. Tech and Doctoral degree programmes.

NIT Kurukshetra was formerly known as Regional Engineering College. It is a premier technical institute of the region, with its campus extending over an area of 300 acres of picturesque land. Admission to the courses at National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra depends on the performance at AIEEE and GATE. In year 2002, NIT Kurukshetra was given the status of Deemed University under the UGC act. It is considered as one of the best engineering institutes in the country.

Shri Atmanand Jain Institute of Management and Technology (AIMT), in Ambala were established in 1996 to provide modern Quality Management Education to students. AIMT is affiliated to Kurukshetra University, and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. Since inception, the institute has been an active member of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Ludhiana Management Association (LMA) and All India Management Association (AIMA).The institute is run by the Management of Shri Atmanand Jain College Trust & Management Society, established in 1938.
