The University is located at Kathgarh, the seat of the famous Lord Shiva temple, near village Mirthal, 25 Km from/ on Pathankot- Jalandhar Highway (NH-1A). Pathankot is well connected by Train/ Bus on Delhi- Jammu main line, to Amritsar, Jalandhar, Gurudaspur, Hoshiarpur, Ropar Jammu and Kangra, Dalhousie and Dharmasala. The Central University of Himachal Pradesh has two campuses located in Dharamsala and Dera Gopipur, Himachal Pradesh, India. The university was founded in 2009 as a result of the government's policy to establish Central Universities in each of the states that do not already have a central university.

Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya or CSK Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University (CSK HPKV) is an agricultural university located at Palampur in Himachal Pradesh in India.

CSK HP Agricultural University offers 11 courses and has 4 colleges under it. It was established in November 1978 as an expansion of the existing College of Agriculture established in May 1966.

It is a state type university recognized by UGC.The capital and investments for the university's land and facilities were provided by state government grants, and grants from the ICAR. In the 2004-05 academic year, approximately 63% of CSK HPKV's annual operating expenditure was funded by HP state government grants, and 29% was covered by ICAR grants. The remaining funding came from fees collected and other sources. The university is also an ISO 9001: 2000 certified institution.

This University was established in 1962 with its affiliation to Panjab University, Chandigarh. Eternal University is the second private university of Himachal Pradesh established by an Act of the state legislature of Himachal. It functions on a "no profit-no loss" basis. It is located in the 450-acre (1.8 km2) campus popularly known as Baru Sahib- The valley of divine peace.
