B. M. Sreenivasaiah College of Engineering is one of the most popular engineering colleges in Karnataka. Established in 1945, BMSCE was one of the first private sector initiatives in technical education in India. BMS College of Engineering has the largest student population of engineering colleges in Karnataka, with students coming from different parts of India and abroad. Though a private engineering college, BMS is partially funded by the Government of Karnataka.
BMS College of Engineering is ranked as 25th best Engineering College of India by India Today. This technical institution is recognized and approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). The institute is located on the Bull Temple Road in Bangalore, opposite to the famous Bull Temple. 18 Departments of BMS College of Engineering offers 13 Undergraduate, 08 post-graduate and 9 Doctoral courses. National Institute of Technology, Surathkal was formerly known as Karnataka Regional Engineering College. It is a premier autonomous institute, established in year 1960 with the joint venture between Government of Karnataka and the Government of India. Today, it is an Institute of National Importance. NITK has been consistently ranked amongst the best engineering institutes of India. National Institute of Technology, Karnataka is ranked No. 10 by India Today in the list of Top 25 Engineering colleges of India.
There are 14departments in National Institute of Technology, Karnataka offering bachelors, masters and doctoral degree programmes in various fields of engineering and technology. The Institute admits students to the B.Tech and M.Tech degree programs on the basis of the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) and Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) respectively.
