Daramsinh Desai Foundation was established in 1968 from an affiliated college named as Dharamsinh Desai Institute of technology offering degree and diploma in Chemical Engineering . It was established by an eminent Parliamentarian and a social worker , Late Shri Dharamsinh Desai . It was established to develop institution that would improve the quality of life for the people in and around Nadiad . In April 2005 , Government of Gujarat declared the institute as State University and it became the First Autonomous Institute in Gujarat.

The campus have over 13000 sq. meter and have all the residential facilities for 740 students . The University have 600 undergraduates and 100 postgraduates . its vision is to become a multi disciplined and ‘learner oriented’ university to closely associate with and be responsive to the industry , to create supportive and caring environment and its Mission is to undertake programs and projects for development of human resources . it carry out research activity in the area of IT, Computer Science , Computer Science, Computer Application and Electronics & Communication with the respective faculty members. It provides all the facilities to its students.
