Army Institute of Law was established under the aegis of Army Welfare Education Society (AWES). AIL was inaugurated on15th July 1999 in Mohali. The Institute offers 5-year degree course in law after 10+2, primarily for the wards of serving and ex-servicemen of Army. 20% seats are available for the civilians also out of which 15% are reserved for Punjab Residents and 5% for All India Civil Category.
