Spread over an area of 500acres, Central University of Punjab was established in 2009. It is one of the Central Universities of India, situated in Bhatinda, Punjab. It is a UGC recognized university offering post graduate and Integrated M.Phil./Ph.D programs. It is a newly established academic institution offering quality education. Central University of Punjab has a total of 12 schools. Its territorial jurisdiction extends to the whole State of Punjab.
Guru Nanak Dev University or G.N.D.U. was established at Amritsar, India on November 24, 1969 to commemorate Guru Nanak Dev's birth quincentenary celebrations. Guru Nanak Dev University campus is spread over 500 acres (2 km²) near village of Kot Khalsa, nearly 8 km west of the Amritsar City on Amritsar - Lahore highway, next to Khalsa College, Amritsar.

The PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh was established as Mugalpura Engineering College at Lahore (now in Pakistan) on November 9, 1921. The name of the college was later changed to Maclagan Engineering College and it’s started functioning under the name on March 19, 1924. In 1931, the college became affiliated to Punjab University, Lahore.
In 1966, with the formation of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, the college came under control of the government of India through Chandigarh Administration. In October 2003, the government of India notified the Punjab Engineering College as a Deemed to be University and thereafter it became known as Punjab Engineering College (Deemed University).
Punjab Technical University (commonly known as PTU) at Jalandhar was established by an act of State Legislature on 16 Jan 1997, to promote technical, management and pharmaceutical education in the Punjab state at the degree level and above. Being an education and research university, it has a mandate to set up centres of excellence in emerging technologies and for promoting training and research and development in these areas.
PTU has 150 engineering colleges, 156 management colleges, 96 pharmacy colleges, 68 architecture colleges, 41 B.Sc MLT colleges and 42 hotel management and catering technology colleges, and 302 learning centers under distance education.
