Established in 1875, Government Law College Thiruvananthapuram is among the oldest educational institutions in Kerala. The college aims to impart high standards of legal education to the aspirants. Affiliated to Kerala University, the college offers two-year (LLM) program at post graduate level, three-year law program at under graduate level and five-year integrated LLB program. Government Law College, Trivandrum has got the approval of Bar Council of India (BCI), New Delhi, to conduct the aforementioned courses. The institution focuses on imparting quality legal education through moot-court room sessions, guest lectures of eminent law professionals. The alumni of the college are among the reputed lawyers of the state.

Kerala Law Academy Law College was established in 1967 in Trivandrum, Kerala. It is one of the two prominent law colleges in Kerala, the other one being the Government Law College. Kerala Law Academy (KLA) is the only private law college in Kerala which is accredited by the Bar Council of India. Kerala Law Academy Law College has been ranked 22nd amongst the Top-25 law schools in the country by the latest survey conducted by India Today.

KLA offers 3year and 5year LL.B programs under the graduate stream of study and the LL.M and M.B.L programs under the post-graduate stream of study. Over the years Kerala Law Academy has grown to become one of the premier law colleges of South India. The college has organized an efficient Legal and Clinic which has rendered legal aid to the poor and needy sections of society who do not have the resources to vindicate their rights.
